Transparent & participatory local governance
Good governance begins at the local level. When municipalities and NGOs encourage citizen participation, foster transparency, and ensure accountability, they strengthen trust in public institutions. Participatory governance means giving citizens a voice in decisions that affect their lives — from local budgeting to service delivery.
Local governments and civil society can work together to create open spaces for dialogue, improve access to information, and monitor public services. Involving citizens — especially marginalized groups — leads to more equitable and sustainable outcomes. It also encourages civic responsibility and reduces the likelihood of corruption or exclusion.
